FAQs and Therapy Investments

  • Mental health counseling is a collaborative process where individuals work with a trained professional to address emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues. While the terms "counseling" and "therapy" are often used interchangeably, counseling typically focuses on specific issues and short-term goals, whereas therapy can involve deeper exploration of feelings and experiences over a longer period. Both aim to improve mental well-being, but the depth and duration can vary.

  • Yes, I offer in-person therapy at my office located at 6020 Aaron Park Drive, Suite B, Colorado Springs, 80918. I also provide telehealth services, allowing you to attend sessions from the comfort of your home.

  • Absolutely! My sliding scale starts at $70 and goes up from there. I want to ensure that therapy is accessible, so I provide flexible pricing options to meet different financial needs.

  • Black Bold and Learning operates primarily on a private pay basis, with session fees set at $125 each. While I do accept insurance, it is processed through Higher Sites Counseling. If you wish to use your insurance, you can request me through Higher Sites for billing. Please note that Black Bold and Learning itself does not handle insurance directly.

  • Yes, I can provide super bills for private pay sessions if you wish to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider. However, I cannot guarantee full reimbursement, as that decision rests solely with your insurance company.

  • Yes, therapy can be extremely effective! It is essential to remember that therapy is a marathon, not a sprint. I typically recommend committing to eight to twelve sessions to begin seeing significant progress. Some individuals may only need a few sessions, while others may benefit from ongoing support for years. The key is consistency and a willingness to engage in the therapeutic process, as therapy's success depends on both the therapist's guidance and your commitment to applying learned skills in your daily life.

  • Late cancellations will incur a fee equivalent to the full price of the therapy session. This policy applies to clients working with me through Higher Sites as well. No-shows will also be charged the full session fee. I encourage clear communication regarding any changes to your appointment to ensure you receive the full benefit of your investment in therapy.

  • Absolutely! Communication is vital in the therapeutic relationship. If you need to reschedule, please let me know in advance. However, if there is a pattern of missed appointments or lack of communication after two or three sessions, I may need to discharge you from services to maintain the integrity of the therapy process. Remember, therapy is an investment in yourself, and it’s essential to prioritize that commitment.

  • Deciding when to end therapy is a personal process. My role is to help you set and achieve your goals. We will regularly check in to assess your progress. Indicators that you might be ready to conclude therapy include feeling like you’ve reached your goals, missing sessions, or consistently feeling good about your quality of life. Ending therapy can be a conversation we have together as you develop insight and awareness of your needs.

  • A good faith estimate outlines the expected costs of therapy, ensuring transparency in pricing. I commit to providing you with a fair estimate of session fees, which will not change without prior notice. This helps you make informed decisions about your investment in therapy.
